I'm guest725. Torre is a Women's International (WIM) Master from Brazil. We played this 5/0 game at 1:30am EST. I lost on time, but I had her in a mating net - mate-in-2. I think it must have been a late night for her because her play is lackadaisical. Blitz isn't about playing the best move, but about playing good moves quickly and hopefully avoiding blunders. Fortunately for me, she made more errors than I did. But it does feel good to almost win from a master, even in blitz

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 d6
playing black against the ruy lopez is not my favorite thing

4.Bxc6+ bxc6 5.d4 exd4 6.Nxd4 Bb7 7.Nc3 Nf6 8.Qf3 Be7 9.e5 Nd5 10.Nxd5 cxd5 11.exd6 Bxd6 12.Qe3+ Qe7 13.Qxe7+ Bxe7 14.Nf5 Bf6 15.0-0 0-0
white's play is pretty tame, but the exchange var. of the ruy is usually looking for an endgame advantage anyway

16.Re1 Rae8 17.Bf4 Bxb2 18.Rxe8 Rxe8
now, white has a deadly back rank weakness that she discovers too late

19.Rb1 Re2 20.h3 Rxc2 21.Ne7+ Kf8 22.Re1 Bd4 23.Be3 Bxe3 24.Rxe3 d4 25.Rd3 Kxe7
there's the blunder! who's protecting the knight now?

26.Rxd4 c5 27.Rd3 Rxa2 28.Rc3 Kd6 29.f4 Bd5
29...Rxg2 is probably better

30.Rg3 c4 31.Rxg7 c3 32.Rxh7 c2 33.Kh2 c1Q 34.Kg3 Rxg2+ 35.Kh4 Qe1+ 36.Kh5
36...Bf3+, 37. Kh6 Qh4# or Qe6# guest725 forfeits on time [36.Kh5 Bf3+ 37.Kh6 (37.Kh6 Qe6# ) 37...Qh4# ] 1-0
